How to cook an English breakfast

The whole thing is topped off with crispy buttered toast, which goes perfectly with the other ingredients. Preparing this breakfast takes a little time, but the end result is worth every minute spent in the kitchen.

A staple of the English breakfast is fried bacon and sausages, which provide a distinctive flavour and aroma. Fried tomatoes and mushrooms add freshness and colour, and eggs can be prepared in several different ways, depending on your preference. Beans in tomato sauce are a classic addition that complements the whole with a delicate sweetness. Buttered toast completes the dish, creating the perfect combination of flavours and textures. An English breakfast is not only a tasty meal, but also a great way to start the day with plenty of energy.

How to cook an English breakfast

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 8 sausages (e.g. breakfast sausages)
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 400g of mushrooms
  • 8 eggs
  • 1 can of beans in tomato sauce
  • 8 slices of toasted bread
  • 100g butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

Preparation of bacon and sausages:

  • In a large frying pan, fry the bacon over a medium heat until crisp. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.
  • In the same pan, fry the sausages until they are well browned and cooked in the middle, about 10-12 minutes.

Preparation of tomatoes and mushrooms:

  • Cut the tomatoes in half. Fry in a pan cut side down for 5 minutes until soft.
  • Slice the mushrooms and fry in olive oil until soft and golden.

Egg preparation:

  • The eggs can be prepared in several ways: fried, scrambled or soft-boiled. Heat a pan with butter and fry the eggs over a medium heat until the whites are set and the yolks remain liquid.

Heating the beans:

  • Heat the beans in the tomato sauce in a small pot over a low heat, stirring occasionally, until hot.

Toast preparation:

  • Toast the bread in a toaster or frying pan until golden and crisp.

NOTES

  • Bacon: You can use smoked bacon to add more flavour.
  • Sausages: Breakfast British sausages are ideal, but you can use other favourite sausages.
  • Extras: You can add black pudding (pudding) or fried potatoes to your breakfast.
